It started with a home.
In 2012, Rohit Chaudhary set out to redesign his first home in New Delhi. He began sharing the process on Instagram—ideas, experiments, design details and everything in between. What started as a personal project slowly brought together a community of people who loved beautiful, thoughtful homes.
Two years later, in 2014, AMU Design Studio was born.
With no formal training in interiors, Rohit built AMU from the ground up, learning through experience, observation and an enduring curiosity for design. His approach has always been simple: create spaces that look beautiful, work effortlessly and, most importantly, feel like the people who live in them.
Over the years, AMU has grown from a small design practice into a trusted interior design brand, creating homes across Delhi NCR and cities around India. Along the way, Rohit has built lasting relationships with clients, craftsmen and collaborators—relationships rooted in trust, honesty and a genuine love for the work.
In 2022, AMU took another important step with the launch of its own manufacturing unit. Having greater control over the making process allowed Rohit and his team to bring their design sensibility directly to furniture—and that eventually led to the creation of AMU Living.
Today, the furniture website is an extension of the same idea that started it all: beautiful design should feel personal, well-made and worth bringing home.
Every piece we create carries a little bit of AMU’s journey—from the way it is designed to the way it is crafted. And while our collection continues to evolve, the thought behind it remains the same:

We believe a home should feel like you—not like a catalogue. Good design is not about following trends; it is about creating something that feels right. We design with everyday living in mind, balancing beauty with comfort and function. Every piece should have a purpose, but never at the expense of character. We believe in thoughtful proportions, timeless forms and details that reveal themselves over time. We care about how something looks, but just as much about how it feels to live with it.
Our designs are born from years of understanding real homes and the people who inhabit them. We work closely with skilled craftsmen to turn those ideas into pieces made to last. We value honest materials, considering construction and quality that you can see and feel.
We don’t believe everything needs to match—spaces become more interesting when they have a little personality. And while our aesthetic may evolve, our belief remains simple: A beautiful design should make everyday living feel a little better. Behind every AMU piece is a team of talented designers, dedicated craftsmen and skilled hands who bring our ideas to life. Working tirelessly, day and night, they turn sketches and dreams into pieces made to be lived with, loved and cherished.
